Technical Support / Re: Linux compile error - Help
« Last post by Xeonus on August 08, 2017, 11:11:53 am »
I am also trying to compile on ubuntu and I run into following error:
Code: [Select]
nvcc -O3 -I . -Xptxas "-abi=no -v" -gencode=arch=compute_50,code=\"sm_50,compute_50\" --maxrregcount=80 --ptxas-options=-v  -o cuda_util.o -c cuda_util.cu
ptxas warning : 'option -abi=no' might get deprecated in future
ptxas info    : 0 bytes gmem
/usr/include/string.h: In function ‘void* __mempcpy_inline(void*, const void*, size_t)’:
/usr/include/string.h:652:42: error: ‘memcpy’ was not declared in this scope
   return (char *) memcpy (__dest, __src, __n) + __n;
                                          ^

Also trying to modify string.h as suggested on google discussion forums does not resolve the issue

Any one can help here:

1. I downloaded the wallet and run it and it has gone thru last 10 hrs sync up the network.
2. now I see the status is 0 hours behind

But the bar still shows message synchronising network......
and the wallet and also the network on top also show out of sync.

Any step I am missing?

FYI, I started using CPU to mine and it is producing some SPR as immature now, so the mining seems ok. Not sure what else is missing on the sync part.
I did not encrypt the wallet yet

I would also like to know the answer. Also, how long should it normally take to sync the blockchain?

I have 3 x 1080ti's on windows with 384.76 drivers.

Although I can't be sure about this (since I'm on Ubuntu and not Windows), I feel those having problems with 384 drivers might get some joy by downgrading to 375. HTH.

After a good bit of dependency and code hacking, I finally managed to compile the miner on Ubuntu 16.04. (Will write a detailed post on my struggles and how I finally succeeded later, in case it helps others.)

[2017-08-08 01:05:05] GPU #0: GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, 4433 khash/s

(No OC and -x 10)

The GUI Wallet shows network hashrate to be around 13 GH/s.

So, mining at ~ 4.4 MH/s, I should be able to find a block at an average rate of once in about 3 days (provided the network hashrate remains constant.) Is this more or less true?

Probably and hopefully, the error would go away once the wallet is fully synced.

If not, I think you'd need to provide (a lot) more info so that someone can help you identify/troubleshoot the problem.

 Ok so I downloaded the miner for 32bit Nvidia (only 32 option available) and downloaded and am syncing the wallet (prob 6 hours to go) - I made a spreadcoin.conf file and did NOT encrypt my wallet. I put in the spreadcoin.conf file a name and password and port as referred to before and private key ABC... etc... I entered the wallet address and password (both in conf file in wallet application file and yes both on same computer) in the "example" bat file and I get the message http request failed: the requested URL returned error: 500 Internal Server Error and json_rpc_call filed, retry after 30 seconds... what did I do wrong? Thanks! :)

oh, so is there any currency out there that I could possibly mine with this?

We've been testing various currencies with a GT 710 (192 CUDA cores) and in our experience so far, BYTECOIN (BCN) mines away at a steady rate of about 2 coins per hour. On your 730 (which, depending on the exact model/chipset, may have either 96 or 384 cores), you should be able to mine BCN at a proportionate rate. BCN won't make you rich overnight  :-\ but hey, who's seen tomorrow!!  ;D

Does the output of:

$ echo $PATH

have /usr/local/cuda/bin in it?

Since $ which nvcc shows this path, I guess it should be but if not, try adding it to the path - might do the trick:

$ export PATH=/usr/local/cuda/bin${PATH:+:${PATH}}

And for good measure, add this too:

$ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/cuda/lib64${LD_LIBRARY_PATH:+:${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}}

HTH.
