Testing begins in 1-2 days
« on: January 25, 2015, 11:11:19 PM »
We'll begin testing in 1-2 days on testnet.

Since we'll need coins to run masternodes I will set initial difficulty to 1/1000 that of SpreadCoin. Ever wanted to instamine something? This will be your chance :)

Sounds awesome.

Will you be on IRC for communication during testing?

When is the best time to catch you? (I have no idea what timezone you are in...)

Im onboard for some testing, once the testing has finished I can also run couple of masternodes on the live network. Just need to build enough coins to operate them.

I can contribute a couple of stable fixed-IP nodes for the test period. I intend to run just one after launch, at least until I'm edged out of the bidding.

Cheers

Yeah same here, I have a couple of IP blocks which have spare addresses available for use.  I will have to traffic shape them so they dont affect my infrastructure too much.

Oh? Are you expecting them to have much impact or are you mainly catering for the possibility?

No I don't think it will have any impact really, but its always better to be safe than sorry! I also have site to site backups periodically through the day which take long enough as it is so I don't want to take too much bandwidth away from those.

Can't argue with that, especially when you set out to provide a service to others.

I will test with 2 static IP's...
maybe 1 first, see how it goes and then add the other.

Is it possible to have testnet and live run side by side?

I believe it is as they both run on different ports to listen for connections.

So every one will need its own datadir and port and it will work I hope. We will see. I will try everything out.

I've just put the wallet into testnet and it created a separate sub folder so its just the port settings I think, there's no network connections though so might need to check with Mr Spread if we will need to manually add some nodes to the wallet to begin with or whether it can use DNS.

No nodes currently specified for testnet:
https://github.com/spreadcoin-project/spreadcoin/blob/master/src/net.cpp#L1205

So, either they'll get hardwired in the new codebase or they'll be published separately to be added to the conf file / commandline.

Yep, everybody waiting for Mr. Spread and his testnet version. All will clear up then.
