How do I setup GPU Mining?
« on: September 06, 2015, 01:07:44 am »
So I downloaded my wallet and the AMD GPU miner and clicked the config bat file and typed in 13 for 13 intensity. When i click to mine however, it just says "Probing for an alive pool. Pool 0 slow/down or URL or credentials invalid." What other settings do i need to add? Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forums! :)

sounds like you need to set following in the .bat:

sgminer.exe -o http://127.0.0.1:41677 -u user -p pass

and then check that in spreadcoin.conf you have at least following:
(located in  Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SpreadCoin )

rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=pass
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=41677
port=41678
gen=0
server=1

With that and intensity set, it should at least start mining, rest is a matter of optimizing.

What cards do you have? following is what works best for my 7950's but if you got other cards you might need to try out different intensity. If I recall correctly this worked real nice for my 280x's and 270x's too.

--thread-concurrency 8192 --lookup-gap 2 --worksize 256 -g 2 --xintensity 127

You might also want to look up --temp-target, --auto-fan, and --gpu-fan options in the sgminer documentation so you get more control over temp (and noise!)

Hope the above helps, have fun! (and don't fry your cards! :) )
